As we unloaded out of the pick up trucks, kids started crowding around us.  People began to sit and get ready for the service.  One family with two elderly people and a young girl came and sat in the front next to me.  All were seated except for the young girl–I was confused and intrigued.  The service continued with songs and skits and testimonies, but, out of the corner of my eye, I could still see the girl standing.

At the end of the worship, Pastor Antonio welcomed the family to the front and we prayed over them.  It turns out that the girl was sick and couldn´t sit–most likely because of a hernia–so we prayed for her specifically and are trusting God to bring healing.  The unity of the Guatemalen people with our American missions team in prayer was breath-taking.  The Holy Spirit was alive and present with us as a light unto the people of Guatemala.  Gracias a Dios!

  1. Hi Amy! These updates are really interesting and helpful to learn what you are doing! It’s good to see you in the photos-you and your new friends look like you are having a really awesome time serving the people of Guatemala. Love, Mom

  2. Hi Amy, I enjoyed reading your post. I am curious about the church; the photo of the church service shows you oustide. Is the building in the background the church? Is it not large enough for all of you to meet in? Or do they usually meet outside? Thank you for your post. Karen

  3. Hey Karen! The building in the background is the church. I think it¡s just not finished yet. The area we¡re sitting in is kind of like a courtyard, surrounded by a rock wall. The area in front of us is more the church, but nothing is really setup in it and the roof is unfinished.
